On my netbook with it's smaller screen and **** keyboard, I do use the + sign. I've always been rather irritated there's no way to take it away though for my desktop.

I would love to have an option to disable tooltips too! If I hoover over a folder with "click to view" disabled, I get a new folderview, and this I really do like, but having a tooltip popup first right before is really rather annoying. But the selection marker I find no use for at all, and also find to be aesthetically annoying. I would be happy to be able to have a simple single click icon interface without any icon overlay markers or other odd things suddenly appearing. This I think also matches many peoples expectations and use cases.
