Plasma-desktop crashes on screen 0, works on screen 1

I am running KDE 4.7.4 on Debian Sid with a liqourix 3.2.0-14 kernel. I have 2 monitors, each is defined as a separate X session.

Plasma-desktop crashes at startup on screen 0 but on screen 1 works fine.

I can still open applications on screen 0 and they follow my KDE system settings as far as style goes, and the kwin window effects that I have defined still work, but I have no background, no widgets and no panel.

Let me know what log files or other info you need to help me out.

Thanks in advance.

Are you able to reproduce this under a new user?

Never thought of that.
Your right, I created a new user and I get a basic desktop on both screens, so does that mean I need to delete some configuration files and start customizing again, or is there a way to figure out what's causing the crash

I would not delete the old configuration files, perhaps move them away. In case you find the cause of the crash, you can make a bug report and attach the culprit file, so that if this is caused by some inconsistency in Plasma, it can get fixed.

The files to start with in this case are "plasma-desktoprc" and "plasma-desktop-appletsrc" in ~/.kde4/share/config. Some distributions use ~/.kde/ instead of ~/.kde4/ so change that out as needed.

looked at the config files mentioned... yeah, not the most human readable, information packed things I've ever looked at. :<

Anyway, do these messages help?

Have you tried moving the configuration files I mentioned out of the way?
That indicates that Plasma crashes, very early in the startup procedure.
