Hi,
So, I'm trying to switch to Caledonia, which ships with complete of icons, unfortunately, i get something like this with every app except networkmanager thingie using normal png icon. Is it possible, to get kde apps to use plasma theme svg icons, or is it WAD? It's KDE 4.8.2, if it's of any importance. Thanks, |

If I recall, Plasma Desktop does allow themes to overwrite applications icons - at least in the tray. The applications themselves will not show this change though.
I am not sure of the procedure to do this however.

That's exactly what i'm trying to achieve.
icons are in /usr/share/apps/desktoptheme/Caledonia/icons along with the rest of the theme. |

I would recommend comparing what you attempting with Caledonia with the default Plasma theme(s). I know Quassel, Kopete and KMix have recieved this treatment.

Tried it and still no go.
Although i recall it worked a few days ago. Also, I tried switching it on a new account and it works there, but getting rid of all configuration for five icons doesn't satisfy me, and there's no guarantee i won't bork it again, so. wat do? |

Try erasing /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER/ outside KDE.

Can you verify that your current user does not have the theme installed locally if you have installed it system wide - or if you have only installed it locally - only has the one, correct copy.

Finally did some dissecting through configs and figured it out.
apparently switching 'status notifier manager' service off borks it. Too bad it's description didn't make me suspect it. Thanks for your time. |
