just updated the kde version to 4.8.2.x and can't login without using kde plasma fail-safe to load it. just wondering if there is a fix for this

is this just you or all users? create a new user to test if needed

try moving your plasma rc files and retry logging in (this sets plasma desktop to the defaults):

 sleep 20s
 mkdir -p $HOME/plasma-config/
 mv $(kde4-config --localprefix)/share/config/plasma-desktop* $HOME/plasma-config/
plasma-desktop &

if that doesn't work rename ~/.kde4
