Hi,
When I connect my camera to the new Kubuntu 12.04 nothing happens. I don't see a notification that a device has been connected, I see nothing. When I did the same in Mint 12KDE the same thing, nothing, happened. When I boot a live DVD of Ubuntu (Gnome) or Mint (Gnome) I do get a notification straight away and I can copy my pictures with whatever program I want to do that. What do I need to install extra in KDE so it will also see my connected camera? Now I have just done a standard installation, as I have done also with the previous OS'es. I saw another thread about connecting camera's as well but I did not see the solution for my problem there. |

First of all, try to upgrade to 4.8.3 when it is released (Kubuntu should have a repository by then), which will be in a couple of days, as a change has been committed to adjust the behavior of cameras.

Thanks for your answer, I will keep an eye open to see when 4.8.3 is available. Till then I just boot a live Gnome DVD and copy my pictures. Thanks again.

I have just upgraded to KDE 4.8.3 and yes, the computer sees the camera as soon as I switch it on (after having it connected of course). So, one more step closer to having the perfect OS with the perfect DE. Thanks guys, I really appreciate this. |
