Mixed up fonts

Tue May 08, 2012 3:02 pm
Hello!

I am having this issue with fonts, not only in plasma but also in Chrome, Thunderbird, etc.

As you can see on the screenshots, the fonts don't fit at all with the icons (I am talking about the position of the font)
How can I correct that?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Do you see this issue with all fonts? Or only with specific ones?

Have you tried reproducing this under a new user to verify font caches and rendering configurations are not causing this?

Thanks for your answers so far. I logged in with a new user and the problem disappeared in Plasma and Thunderbird. I have still the same problem with Chrome but I am happy.

Can you explain why changing the user solved the problem?

It is probably some old config files causing this. Under your old user, try removing ~/.fonts and ~/.fontconfig outside of KDE (preferrably at a terminal)

btw, I really see a difference between certain fonts, even with the standard ones (e.g. Mukti Narrow, the one I used while I was making the screenshots). It's a pitty, I pretty liked that one actually.

Have you tried removing the font folders as I recommended above?
