Have just made a clean re-install of Ubuntu 12.04 - OK
Then installed kde desktop - OK Then logged out but not shown a choice, just come back to Ubuntu desktop. Ran "sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop" in Terminal, result kubuntu-desktop already installed Any help would be appreciated Bill Lancaster |

Do you mean that you don't have any choices on the login screen? You may want to try to switch to KDM, as far as I know the command is
and then you choose kdm in the list.

Thanks for your response.
Tried that and the result is:- Package `gdm' is not installed and no info is available. Use dpkg --info (= dpkg-deb --info) to examine archive files, and dpkg --contents (= dpkg-deb --contents) to list their contents. /usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: gdm is not installed. Does this mean that Plasma is not installed? |

Ha!
I logged out again. Saw a small icon top left in login form - clicked it and was then presented with a choice of desktops! Simple isn't it? (or perhaps I am!) |

AFAIK, Ubuntu uses LightDM now: http://www.ubuntu.com/sites/www.ubuntu. ... laptop.jpg |
