RT,I'm trying to switch to kde from gnome 3,I have installed the latest kde in Arch now(which should be 4.8.4),the following description is what I met when i try to use kde:
1. i can login in using kdm or tty1~tty6 or via another desktop environment(for example,xfce4) 2. however after login,it just shows the kde splash(the disk icon..etc) and then it stops, when i click ,the splash disppears and there is only cursor left. 3. meanwhile, i can't use the keyboard(i.g. Alt+F2),it just doesn't work! I've searched a lot,I've tried: 1. reinstall nvidia driver 2. disbable compositing 3. remove .kde4 .config .local 4. login as a new user unfortunately, none of above worked..... and this video describes exactly what i'm going through.. http://youtu.be/4omyjHD9Zfs this is what i got from my .xsession-errors:
so will anyone help me? I'm going crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks in advance!

On a virtual terminal, can you see what processes have started successfully?
It appears that KWin and Plasma Desktop have launched, at least in part.
KDE Sysadmin
