Problems with setting wallpaper images

Hi all,
I'm trying to set up my desktop to have my own images as the wallpaper. I've got my own dir, which in turn has some sub-dir's, containing my images which I've told "Desktop Settings" to look into for images. By default the image change was set to 5seconds. I set this to 5 minutes, set the Wallpaper to slideshow, positioned it "Centered" and selected my own colour. I hit apply, then OK and hey presto I had one of my images as my wallpaper. I then wanted to make sure all of the images were displaying correctly so I attempted to set the interval time back from 5 minutes to 5 second.

Here lies my first problem. The interval value for minutes can't be set back to "00". It will only go as low as "01" minutes. Once it hits 01, the down arrow on the scroller greys out. Attempts to edit the "01" also don't work. So now instead of being able to review my images at 5 second intervals, I'm stuck on 1:05 minute intervals. Yes I do know about the right mouse click and "Next wallpaper image", but I'm currently referring to the config dialogue. Is this a bug/feature or is there something I should have also installed to make this work? I'm running Gentoo, 64 bit, with the default install of KDE, currently V4.8.3. I also run a twinhead config, so I currently have one display set to 1:05 minutes, and it appears to not respect this, taking about 5 minutes to tick over, and the other screen set to 10 seconds and it appears to tick over at about 30 second intervals. Once again another bug/feature?

My second problem is in relation to the selection order of images. What actually controls the order of display? It appears to be random, but a really weird random - if you know what I mean. I have about 40 - 50 images in my collection. One image will appear, three others will go by, due to the above, this involves a lot of right mouse clicking, then the original will reappear, 6 more other images, then the original one appears again, and if I do this enough, I know that several images appear with monotonous regularity whilst other images don't appear at all. I have no idea as to how the order is selected, but I would guess the dir's are scanned, file names placed into a QT equivelant of an STL vector or list then randomise() called on the collection then the collection used by the window manager to load up the wallpapers. Once again is this a bug/feature?

Is there another "thingy" that I need to install to have better control over the way that the wallpapers are displayed?

Any thoughts, greatly appreciated,

Andrew

Unscientifically I checked if the issue was present on my post beta2 4.9 system and it seems it works (it can't be lowered than 10 seconds, unfortunately). Does this issue happen only after saving settings, or all the time?

Einar,
Thanks for the feedback. You're on the right track there with the 10 second comment. I'm sure, famous last words, that I saw this set at 5 seconds at one time or another. Pushing seconds from 5 up to 10 allows me to roll back to 0 minutes. Looks like that's fixed.

Now I've got to work out how the randomisation of the display order is done. It's all over the place, repeating certain images multiple times in quick succession and not touching others at all.

Regards,
Andrew

It may be an improper randomization algorithm, without having looked at the code. You should, in my opinion, file a bug on that regard to bugs.kde.org with an accurate description of the misbehavior.
