Good day.

Plain and simple, I'm here to figure out how to create or edit a Window Decoration.

BACKGROUND: I've been using Linux Mint for about four years now. First 9/now 11.. :o ... I've dabbled in Fedora, Puppy, Vector and OpenSUSE. I'm good with terminals, etc. But when Ubuntu switched over to their Gnome3/Unity Desktop Environment,, they lost me. So I took the jump.. I had a really sweet Gnome2 Desktop, slick and stable. The reason I switched is because I feel KDE4 translucency is much flashier and resource friendly, If you can tweak it. And I have... But now I want to look into Theme-ing things myself. For more, ironically, unity. I have recently begun tweaking Plasma Themes with inKscape. I've got my desktop looking something Tony Stark - ish; Deco - Futuristic, Neon on Glass look. I dont have a menu bar, just Cairo and some plasma widgets.

So where can I find the image sets for a Window Decoration and tweak them and redraw them a little?
I have; GIMP; inKscape; gcc; g++; cmake; Eclipse....

Regards.

**EDIT** - I Forgot to mention. My system is 64 bit, Dual Core AMD.

You should check out the Aurorae theme engine (usually shipped with your distro's KDE packages) for easily creating themes. I found some documentation here: http://techbase.kde.org/User:Mgraesslin/Aurorae

First,, Thanks for the info..
I built this KDE from source and what little I can find in the Ubuntu repositories. Mint 11 is built off Ubuntu 10 I believe. Ubuntu only really has packages for its standard Kbuntu. So I'm missing a lot that comes with a clen kde/os install.

I've looked into this a little already within my reading here... but..

Does anybody know of .deb resources / repositories which are going to be useful to add to my listings?
I looked in Synaptic and my repositories don't show anything related to this.

Thanks

What type of redrawing are you thinking of here?
If it is the placement of buttons in the decoration, this is something which can be configured at System Settings > Workspace Appearance > Window Decorations > Configure Buttons.

No I have no problem placing the buttons. In fact I've gotten them right where I want them
With Aurorae I lowered the title bar, and moved elements around.
BUT
What I want to do is edit the base image file of the window decoration.
Edit edge contours, extension points, transparency colors..
As for the buttons, I'd like to spruce them up with some colour. Like painting the X insode close Red, as opposed to system theme colour which is still allowed on the circle.

After installing Aurorae I was able to find decoration images in the /usr/share/app/Aurorae. Opened and edited with Inkscape, But tweaking them only resulted in that edge's disappearance
