Not sure where I should post this but seeing that there's a 'Lancelot Brainstorming' section here I thought this would do.

The Lancelot Launcher has a Recent Documents facility, I'm not sure where this comes from but I've read it's from Kickoff.

It has a selective memory about the documents it shows, which I think might be something to do with it only working for documents from KDE applications. So, for example, LibreOffice documents are not shown in the list, which is interesting because if I have a LibreOffice document open and check the Recent Documents list it has an 'Open' section which show that the file is open. As soon as I close the file it disappears completely from the list.

This suggests that Recent Documents partially supports non-KDE apps, though if I open a Lyx document, for example, that will be ignored completely.

Is this a Kickoff issue and if so is it a bug or by design?

Thanks

I suspect a document has to be opened directly through a KDE application (such as Dolphin) and possibly through the KDE file picker to be registered as a recent document.

Thanks, this seems to be the case. If I open a document for a non-KDE app using Dolphin it will appear in the recent documents list but if it is opened from within the app it won't.

At least I understand what is going on now, but it is still frustrating!
