A map-of-time-zone widget?

Fri Sep 07, 2012 6:52 am
Hello,

First of all, I recently moved to KDE with Kubuntu after the debacle of Unity and Gnome Shell and I must say: KDE is awesome! So I want to start with a big thanks for all the effort involved in the making of KDE, really: thumbs up! :)

Second, I would like to know whether there is any widget for the desktop that would display a world map with the time zones and the respective time in each time zone. I would find it much more aesthetic and efficient than having to load several clock widgets, eacht with a different time zone.

Thanks :)

You probably want to try the "World Clock" widget, which is part of kdeplasma-addons I believe.

No World-Clock Widget

I have installed kdeplasma-addons and plasma-widgets-addons, after which I rebooted the OS. Yet I could not find any "World-Clock" widget in the "Add Widget" menu.

Hmm, it could be part of Marble, the Desktop Globe application. (It may be a seperate package to the application, although it could be the same).

World Clock

OK thanks. I got the widget. It's not what I was hoping for though. I was hoping for a neater map with time-zones laid-out and the time showing at the bottom of the time zones. But OK it will do. Thanks.
