Troubles wiht deleted .kde folder

Mon Sep 10, 2012 8:38 pm
Is there any way to rebuild a deleted .kde folder? The system is not creating It in the startup... I have a lan house with debian+kde and a user deleted the .kde folder... I have formated that pc, but the trouble continue... in all other pcs the system retuned ok after rebooting... How do I force kde to create/overrite a new .kde folder?

It is weird... i can log in... but all that I got is a black screen and a mouse cursor... I have formatted the pc again with the same result. I am using now debian testing amd64. This time the folder .kde has been created, but with the same black screen and mouse cursor. I've got the same trouble in 2009 and solved It by adding 'Enable=false' to the file kwinrc under Compositing... but now everthing is diferent ( OpenGLIsUnsafe=false ). Any ideia?

I'd look at the nvidia drivers, which card/gpu and which drivers?

I have installed the driver using module-assistant following debian wiki... I will now uninstall everthing with the name nvidia and download the .sh from the site... maybe there is something missing in the system... thanks for the clue.
I will do:
dpkg -l | grep -i nvidia
#to detect all files with nvidia installe
#and remove them by
aptitude remove --purge <pkg>
#then
sh NVIDIA...sh
#and reboot

I would, logged out of KDE, move /home/$USER/ and try again or try logging in as a new user

I will try to update to experimental... I think a missing or older file (gcc is 4.6 but nvidia installer needs 4.7) is trapping nvidia from start... I will post if worked...

I have uninstalled nvidia.sh... but nouveau is not working either... reinstalled xinit by aptitude reinstall xinit. Then I deletes xorg.conf and cd /etc/X11 && Xorg -configure . It created a xorg.conf.new at my root folder, but cannot be more wrong... It has 2 screens and It is a onboard video GF 6100 with only one exit :P ... the good news are that now I am able to click on the icons at kdm to select desktop manager or terminal or even reboot my machine.
What I am missing? glxinfo gives this msg: Error: unable to open display
