Hi,

I have KDE 4.8.5 on this laptop, and while all the other CTRL + F keys work, CTRL + F12 only dims hte screen and brings the "Widget Dashboard" indicator to the top of the screen but doesn't bring the desktop widgets to the front. On my KDE 4.8.4 desktop, just recently upgraded (Ubuntu 10.04 --> 12.04) things work perfectly.

Any setting that I can look at that controls this?

What's your setting in System Settings -> Workspace Behavior -> Workspace -> Dashboard?

Yes, digging around I found that solved it---set it to "Show desktop widgets".

Long story--because of a crash (involving the systray? as reported here...?) I had discovered that CTRL + F8 and CTRL + F10 weren't working. When I dug around to find out why, I *think* I set it back to "show independent widget set" and got the warning that this function had been disabled due to a crash (and that's when I think I lost the CTRL + F12 function; but again not sure, as I didn't immediately check).

But it's working now. Thanks.
