Hi,
To save desktop estate I decided to put the World Clock widget on an autohide panel. I was too clever, probably. I set reasonable dimensions to a separate panel, put the World Clock onto it - and the widget promptly shrunk to the size of the "Submit" button here, though the panel was pretty big and of the right proportions. Is there a way to force the desired size on a widget in such a context? |

Plasma Applets act differently depending on their size constraints, which in turn depend on where they're placed in (desktop, panels). This may be a bug with sizing. Can you post a screenshot showing the issue?

I cannot and I wouldn't . Because after reboot some settings got cancelled. Nevertheless, I'll honestly try to describe my present situation (very satisfactory). Situation before reboot: (1) Business card size autohide panel on the left, centered; (2) World Clock widget on it, automatically an irretrievably shrunk to a fingerprint size (it tried, as it were, to fill the available space, but shrunk a split second later); Situation after reboot: (1) Business card size autohide panel on the left, top (I never told it to move up); (2) World Clock widget on it, maximized (filling the available space) as it should have been in the first place; Besides, I've got a dropdown panel with launchers on top; its width setting also forgotten (thankfully, nothing else). As to bugs: these desktop settings things have been forcing me to keep an alternative DE all along, just in case. I prefer KDE, but now and again it simply makes life impossible. Someone has to take a good look into the settings foundations.

Unfortunately, size constraints (given that an applet can be on the desktop, on the panel, or even on a non-desktop system such as a tablet) are hard to get right. Without bug reports, it will be hard for developers to fix the issue.
