I can find in practially no application the menu bar on top. Where has this disappeared and how can I restore it? This makes efficient working absolutely impossible. In many programs the menu is abslutely vital.
Please help! Thank you in advance

which of your 2 listed installs?
in another recent post you state you up'ed to 12.10, so this issue appeared after the upgrade? if after the upgrade are you now running KDE 4.10? |

It seems all to be very complicated.
The old version 12.04 seems to have upgraded to 12.10 and works with very few exception now well. Here I am missing the menu bars. However, I have found it, but can not move this menue into each application at its proper place. The menue now hides behind a tiny, tiny black box on the very top of the screen, hardly noticable and difficult to pinpoint with the mouse. This is truly not what I expect in a good, easy, quick Desktop for Desktops. For little handheld machines that my be the big hit, but I have hardly a mobile and intend not to do any mobile computing ever. So, I do hope to get help how to install the menue bar in all my applications back. The first version 12.10 has some faults, due to a mishandling of mine. However, I decided to wait and replace it with Kubuntu 13.04. I can use it as an emergeny program if the main one has problems.

can you post a pic
sounds like you're using the Oxygen widget style and the menu bar style is not quite right (new in 4.10) try changing your app widget style: systemsettings -> application appearance -> fine tune -> menu bar -> menu bar style -> in application |
