I'm on Archlinux, and after I had to do a fresh installation, I noticed the notifications look weird. The notification plasmoid never appears in the systray (even though it is enabled in the systray settings), and the notifications themselves appear on top left and bottom right, but broken in the latter case. A picture explains it better:
http://imagebin.org/247089 I checked on a second computer (still Archlinux), and could reproduce the issue, but only on new accounts. Accounts that existed in 4.9 do not have this issue... Questions :
Thanks

your image isn't displaying, it isn't a pic (png, jpg), seems to just be a link but there's nothing at the link
could the notification widget be hidden, with the system tray's hidden icons? |

Hmm, obviously imagebin is not the right choice for linking in a forum... I replaced it with a regular link.
As to your question, no, the plasmoid is not hidden, its visibility is set to "Auto". Changing it to "Always Visible" has no effect.

try reinstalling notification widget
weird imagebin.org doesn't give a direct lick to the pic, just to the web page even if you right click -> copy image address I use simplest-image-hosting.net, provides results with various tags if you use their "share this image" link, see http://simplest-image-hosting.net/jpg-0 ... 218-124907 |

I suspect you have two notification applets on your desktop or panels - and one is hidden. It is generally recommended to set the Notifications applet to "Always Visible" to avoid display issues such as this when it is in the system tray.
If removing all instances of the applet and adding a single one back into the system tray does not solve the issue, can you try with either a fresh Plasma Desktop configuration (just move it somewhere else) or under a new user?
