Hi,

after enabling nepomuk (full text search! yay!) I have a strange problem. After few hours my plasma-desktop freezes (i can't do anything) and uses 100% cpu. I'm wonder if this can be actually connected (i have doubts) but I have never used a nepomuk before (was unstable) and yet, never expirenced a freez like this.

KDE 4.9.5

PS
I hope that I posted in ther right forum, but please move this topic if you think it's wrong. Thank you.

If you temporary disable desktop search (nepomuk), do you still experience the freezes?

If you haven enabled nepomuk email indexing, try disabling just that.

I disabled nepomuk. Freeze is still here. Now there is something fun to debug :/

Which widgets do you use?

1) panel (autohide)
-pager
2) panel
digital clock
icon tasks
gmail-notifer
tray
device notifer
notification area
toggle panel (http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Pa ... ent=149654)
3) panel (autohide)
kwin button improved (http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/KW ... ent=143971)
window controls (http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Wi ... ent=126309)

and quick launch, and folder view (3 times) and facebook notifer script.

This freeze is not that terrible since i can killall plasma-desktop, but it would be great to fix it, if possible.

Thanks for all answers so far!

When the freeze occurs next time, could you try attaching a debugger and generating a backtrace to see what it is trying to do?
This may aid us in investigating the cause of the high CPU usage.

I would also recommend to try removing the third-party plasmoids and see if it helps. I would start with kwin button improved, facebook notifer script, gmail-notifer, and window controls (one at a time).

This will take a lot of time, but I will try.

I would start with kwin button improved, facebook notifer script, gmail-notifer, and window controls (one at a time).

Kwin button improved used to crash plasma-desktop in older version, so i will start with it.

i think that gmail-notifer was guility. After removing this applet i didn't noticed any freezes whole day. Funny that it worked fine in the KDE 4.9.3

PS
Everything works ok. I really think that the problem was solved.

I've marked this as solved now.
As for why it worked fine under KDE 4.9.3 - not sure, however behavioural changes in either Plasma or Qt could have been responsible for this.
