:( Right click stopped working in Plasma. Is anyone else having this problem? I haven't been able to use right click to access the right click menus in a long time. Finally switched over to the kde desktop and it works there. Any ideas what might be causing this?

moderator note: I changed the subject to indicate this only happens when workspace type ='s netbook

right click is not working in widgets? apps? on the desktop? all of them?

what do you mean by "switched to the kde desktop"?

yep, not working at all.

Sorry... by kde desktop, I meant the "Desktop" Workspace Type under Workspace. :<

in ~/.kde[4]/share/config there's some plasma-netbook* files try moving/renaming/deleting them to force a default netbook desktop then change back into netbook mode and see if mouse works correctly

you could look at plasma-netbook-appletsrc and search for the 2 (or more?) containments that have "rightbutton", mine read :
Code: Select all
RightButton;NoModifier=contextmenu

I have a lot to learn! Where might I find those two things mentioned?

they're in the file ~/.kde[4]/share/config/plasma-netbook-appletsrc
"~/" indicates your home folder, /home/user_name
"[4]" indicates that depending on your distro there is/isn't a 4 in the folder name

might be safer to just rename/delete the plasma-netbook* files in ~/.kde[4]/share/config/ and switch to netbook workspace

Thanks so much. I forgot I had to un-hide files. My bad. Once I figured that out, I deleted the files you recommended, switched back to netbook workspace, and right click works again. :D

I wanted post a brief update. The right-click doesn't work in Firefox/Thunderbird, but works elsewhere. Anyone else encounter this problem? Using the above suggestion fixed it for a time, but then returned after a while. Unfortunately, I am unsure what's causing it.

look at file ~/.kde[4]/share/config/plasma-netbook-appletsrc the lines starting with RightButton
to display the lines run the following, adjusting the path to include or not the "4"
Code: Select all
cat ~/.kde[4]/share/config/plasma-netbook-appletsrc|grep rightbutton

mine all say "RightButton;NoModifier=contextmenu", what do yours say

did re-deleting those files help? I have no issue with right-click in FF (but I only did a quick switch to Netbook to test)
