Hi,
Last night I installed the lastest KDE. Everything is great except the system tray widget. It just shows as a large red "X" and when hovered over says "Unable to load widget". As I am new to KDE I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction on what might be causing this? Let me know if more details are helpful. Thanks, Bryan |

it helps to post your distro & version as well as version of KDE
in Konsole run:
and post the output here, make sure you use the code tags or post to pastebin then post the link here also, right after runnng it look at the tail of ~/.xsession-errors and post here if theres any think looking relevant

the widget should be in package kdebase4-workspace (or something similar) you could try reinstalling it

most of the konsole output looks the same as mine except for the "couldn't find node background " messages and I have no idea how relevant they are and the "bad window message"
when run in konsole does a new window open and then close? so this is an upgrade? can you try as a new/different user? |

It does open and stays open. There doesn't seem to be a problem running it via the console.
No, it isn't an upgrade. It's a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.10. I had been using Gnome 3 but didn't care for it and decided to give the latest KDE a try. I just did an apt-get to install it. I just added a new user and logged in with that account. It works fine for that one. Strange. Any idea what the difference is? |

I logged back in as the original user account and it works now. It seems that whatever the issue was, was corrected when the new user logged in. Thanks!
