When I have an application running it appears on the panel. In this case Firefox and Thunderbird
When I put the mouse pointer over that application (on the panel) a large transparent notification appears above it. It stays on for about 2-3 seconds
How can I shut this effect off?

Is there a way to arrange the order that applications appear on the panel when they are active? I used to use Task Bar Shuffle in Gnome.

right click -> task manager settings
-> unclick show tool tips
-> sorting -> choose you preference
