Mute button on task bar

Tue May 14, 2013 9:02 am
Hello,
I'm new here, so if I get things wrong please forgive me.
For many years if my telephone rings, I left mouse click the speaker plasmoid and turn the volume right down, of the radio station I'm usually listening to.
Because this is more complex than needed, I started look for a mute solution and I found one, by right mouse clicking the speaker plasmoid, then left mouse clicking the mute option.
What would be even simpler and requiring only one click is to have a mute plasmoid, ie if I want to kill the speakers I just left mouse click a button on my taskbar.

I am rather dumb now, at well over 60 years old and find learning new stuff difficult, perhaps I could learn to write a new plasmoid?

Whatever - I would like to contribute in other words, but would still like to be able to kill the sound with one left mouse click on the taskbar, even if writing a plasmoid is beyond my meager abilities :)
Regards,
Peter

You can click on the kmix icon with the middle mousebutton.
That should mute as well.

My ignorance never ceases to amaze me, but am forgiven by the fact, in all the years I've been a KDE user, I've never come across the information that hitting the speaker icon with the middle mouse button, mutes the speakers!
Thank you for that information it has annoyed me for ages, the scenario is usually, my daughter rings me, hang about Darling whilst I kill my sound, then I scrabble about doing this, which takes about a second and a half, now I can achieve the same result in about a half of a second.

Regards,

Peter.
