Hi. Im not sure if this is the right place to post this.

Im having an issue with screen edges on KDE, after an attempt of installing Nvidia driver. When I installed the driver using
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
my resolution changed to 680x800, so in order to have my old resolution back, I found some posts on Google, which told that it was apparently something with the driver, and that in order to have the original resolution I needed to remove the xorg.conf. When I did, it all went to normal. Or so I thought. The main things I know changed are that screen edges arent working, and that semitransparent stuff of my theme are not transparent anymore. I believe I need to have a xorg.conf to fix this, but I cant find the way to do it.

I tried going console mode and writing:
service mdm stop, which doesnt finds mdm
service kdm stop, which results in error in the send message
X -configure, which results in a fatal error

Here is the result of typing inxi -G on the terminal:
Code: Select all
Kvothe ninakzz # inxi -G
Graphics:  Card-1: Intel N10 Family Integrated Graphics Controller
           Card-2: NVIDIA Device 0a76
X.org: 1.11.3 drivers: intel (unloaded: vesa, fbdev) tty size: 70x33 Advanced Data: N/A for root

Thanks for your help!

If you are using the official Nvidia driver, you may need to reboot to allow the new kernel drivers of the Nvidia driver to be loaded.
Also - to my knowledge the Nvidia driver does require that it generates a xorg.conf file, so I would advise generating a new one after rebooting using the nvidia-settings tool.
