I try to posit some icons on the desktop, but they are not displayed, that is, sometimes they are but then they disappear. It is a png image. Maybe it is too small. Is there a description about requirements for icons?

It used to work in kde3 ...

Which desktop layout are you using? Is it "Default Desktop" or "Folder View"?
Also, how exactly are you adding the icons to the desktop, and can you detail how they are disappearing please (ie. is the icon going to plain white, or is the whole item disappearing from your desktop)?
