Hi, I've just connected an external monitor to my laptop. When I keep the laptop's embedded monitor as primary output, the dashboard widgets stay on the screen, as expected. The external monitor's dashboard is empty.

However, when I select the external monitor as the primary output, all my widgets disappear, and both screens' dashboards are empty.

Is there a way to make the external monitor the primary output while keeping the widgets? FWIW both have the same resolution. Cheers.

==EDIT==
I can see the widgets only if I position the primary output on the left of the two (side-by-side) screens.

Could you please be more specific about your KDE SC version?

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

I'm not sure what SC means, but I'm running KDE 4.10.5 (via Kubuntu 13.04).

I still see this in KDE 4.12.3 (Kubuntu 13.10 backports).

Once you've changed the primary monitor, does repositioning the secondary monitor to the left/right have any effect?

Yes, it does. I'll clarify exactly what happens.

1) Have only the laptop's screen enabled ---> widgets appear on the laptop screen.
2) Enable the external monitor, and select it as primary.
3) External monitor on the left of the laptop screen ---> no widgets on either screen. (previous) widgets appear on the external screen. (Nothing on the laptop screen.)
4) External monitor on the right of the laptop screen ---> (previous) widgets appear on the external screen. (Nothing on the laptop screen.) no widgets on either screen.

I can repeat (3) and (4) indefinitely, with the same results. (4) to me is expected behaviour, but I would expect to see widgets on the external primary in (3).

Interesting, it would appear that the widgets layouts are dependent on the screen positions. I'd suggest reporting a bug at bugs.kde.org in this case.

Oops, I just realised it got it the wrong way around in my last post. Anyway, I've filed a bug.

Thanks again for your help.
