Hi,
after upgrading to kde sc 4.11 my top control panel moved somewhere further to the north and is now effectively unreachable. What'd be the best way to get rid of this additional -- though useless -- panel? I wouldn't have noticed it at all, if there wouldn't be the Notification Widget sitting in this Panel, and showing me the notifications from above -- so i get them twice. Cheers

A screenshot of what? The control panel that i want to remove is off-screen, hence unreachable.

you could try editing your $KDEHOME/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc, obviously at your own risk
- save a copy - open in Kedit - kquitapp plasma-desktop (panels will disappear) - in Kedit find the containments sections containing "plugin=panel", there should be 1 section for each panel - id the appropriate [Containments] [nn] and then delete that and all section that start with it, there will be a bunch containing all the applets in the panel. 1st section appears to start with [Containments [nn] last with [Containments] [nn] [Configuration] - save - restart plasma with: plasma-desktop & this is what by side panel appears like in my rc file

you could also reset your destop to it's default
