When I go to desktop themes and click get new themes it says "Configuration file not found: "plasma-themes.knsrc"" at the bottom and then when I try to get a new theme(search) it crashes. I tried manually installing and it goes into the selections but when I select it it doesn't work. The 3 default ones don't seem like to do anything either. I am using AWN with this. It gives me this error: Executable: systemsettings PID: 4186 Signal: Segmentation fault (11) I have tried fully uninstalling deKorator from synaptic and reinstalling but it still happens.. I am using linux lite please help

try reinstalling the "plasma-desktop" package as that's what should provide "plasma-themes.knsrc"

That fixed the problem..I didnt even have plasma-dektop installed. But now when I apply a new theme still nothing happens.. Is there some other plasma thing I need from synaptic?I have found that in the details tab of Desktop Theme that the theme I installed is not there, but it was when I manually put the file in the location..

1) run the following in Konsole:
Code: Select all
kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental  2> /dev/null

2) install the package plasma-desktopthemes-artwork which will provide some added themes
3) restart KDE
4) try changing themes

is:
- this a new install ?
- upgrade ?
- any other part of KDE not functioning as expected ?

I ran the command in terminal "sudo apt-get install kde-full" and it installed everything and every other part is workin fine. The terminal command got me new themes but when I restart with them applied still nothing happens

what exactly gave you "error: Executable: systemsettings PID: 4186 Signal: Segmentation fault"? AWN ? does it still fault?

Are all the themes you're having issues with deKorator ones?

can you create a new user and see if they have this issue ?

did theme switching ever work?

I am no longer getting any error, but the themes arent working. I tried switching themes but that didnt work. The themes im using are the ones from the KDE Settings>Workspace Appearence>Desktop Theme>Get New Themes. I dont know if that is deKorator or not. I used to get the "error: Executable: systemsettings PID: 4186 Signal: Segmentation fault" when I tried to search for themes in the "Get a new Theme" part it crashed it gave me that error. I havent tried making a new user because I dont know how

Do you have issues using themes already existing on the system (those already there, not the ones you need to use "get new themes" to get) ?

to create a new user http://docs.oseems.com/general/operatin ... d-new-user

I mean themes that show in systemsetting without using the "get new themes" button, this might include air, aya, slim-glow, androbit, etc... (some of which came with kplasma-desktopthemes-artwork)

Those do not seem to do anything

you did click apply after selecting one?

only thing left is to try as a new user to see if your config is somehow messed up

you can see if you're generating relevant errors when attempting this by:
- opening the app kdebugdialog
-> deselect all
-> search for: plasma
-> select all
-> apply
Then attempt to change themes and look at the tail end of the the file ~/.xsession-errors
