How to delete/configure icons

Mon Nov 18, 2013 2:14 pm
Hello,

I'm using KDE Search and Launch and I tried adding a starting parameter to chromium. I wanted to move the chromium cache to my RAM. I apparently added two other icons and can't remove them again (Screenshot: http://imgur.com/YYaqO6M). I couldn't find any related information on google.

So I need help how to remove those two icons and how to add starting parameters to my programs.
Thank you :)

to remove try: right clicking on desktop (or the cashew) -> configure search and launch -> main menu -> uncheck the ones you don't want shown

how do you get anything other than the Kmenu folders to show large and in the center of the screen, any app or widget I add is placed above the panel and is a small icon?

Thanks for your help.

I can just remove the group folders (Multimedia, Internet, Graphics, ...) (http://imgur.com/jvRMJt2) in the main menu, but not the icons in it.
I dragged the chromium icon to the bottom of my screen, so there appeared a new icon http://imgur.com/qRxu7KY. Then i did right click -> Icon settings and wanted to add the starting parameter and then I had two icons in my group folder 'Internet'.

I didn't do anything, it was just like this after I had installed it.

you might need to delete the icons by hand

the following is conjecture as I've never actually done it so backup and assume any risks

1) id the name of the activity's config (?) file, found in file $KDEHOME/share/config/activitymanagerrc

2) switch to a different activity (alternatively "kquitapp plasma-desktop"), else the config file will not exist

3) edit the activity's config file which will be in $KDEHOME/apps/plasma-desktop/activities/ by removing the icons in the "EnabledEntries=" line

4) save the file and then switch back to the S&L activity

let me know if it works
