Hi all!
I'm the creator of plasma theme Caledonia (caledonia.sourceforge.net) and I try to bring a complete experiencie with my theme, but, after last changes in KDE, most of the systray icons doesn't work with customized pieces in other themes. I mean, for example, Choqok or Akonadi not shows the customized icons when alerts new messages. Other new complements or software like the Wacom icon in systray, KScreen or KDEConnect are not possible to customize (I try everything). I want to know if this components change something in their ID's to customize the icons (I think is thanks to "setIconByName" function in the code). With this, I will provide customized icons with my theme always if is possible. For example, the "Nowplaying" plasmoid change the route of the customized CD cover, and maybe this occurs with this apps that I said. Someone can tell me some information about this? Is very tired try to do a good work and theme if everything changes without any information (like occurs with Quassel icon, that changed the ID). Any idea or help? Thanks to all that read this. Greetings. Sorry for my English. |

Have you compared the icons your theme provides with those provided by the default Air theme to see if that offers any clues?

Yes, I compare, but my theme provides many icons that Techbase don't name, and/or default theme don't provide. All those examples haven't monochrome icons in default (Air) because uses the Oxygen icons. If exist a ID, you can change the oxygen icon for one customized.
Fore example: before changes, customized Choqok or Akonady icons appears. When KDE starts to change things and move to QML, the apps only use the customized icon in normal conditions, but if exist new messages appears the Oxygen icon with the number of unread messages. This did not happen before. Another example: KMail. Before changes KMail icon worked as the actual Choqok or AKonady. After changes, developers include a new form to customize the icon totally, without unread messages and with unread messages. Maybe is a develop thing? I mean? |

I would suggest sending a mail to plasma-devel@kde.org on this topic, as they will be able to provide more information. I can't think of any reason why certain icons wouldn't be replaceable though as long as the applications are using the SNI specification (easiest way to tell - they will glow when hovered over).
