Hellooooooo kde!!!
First off, i have no idea if i should be posting this here or anywhere else, therefore excuse me if im posting in the wrong section. So. It's been a year since i last used my cool kde desktop, and 6months ago or so i decided to try mint's cinnamon....well you can immagine i missed my kde because yesterday i tried the latest os'es of Kubuntu, openSUSE, Chakra. ALL of them i believe bundle the latest kde 4.11 and ALL of them gave me problems with kde: almost all windows and dialogs are transparent and i cannot see many things. I wasready to give up and give kde another shot in a couple of months, but yesterday i found out what was the problem and though i might give kde a development boost here. So, the problem is "compositing style", while testing kubuntu on live boot i managed to get into system settings i dunno how and i managed to change the compositing style. There were 4: opengl 3.x, opengl 2.x, opengl 1.x and xrender. (I put x cause i dont remember the version numbers). The default was opengl 2.x, i tried 3.x and it got even worse and thank god there was that emergency revert dialog or i wouldn't have been able to change the style again. Xrender worked perfectly instead (i finally saw all of my kde!) but it didn't support all kde effects, so i put opengl 1.x and it worked perfectly just as well and it supported all effects. Now i'm sure that opengl 3 would've helped my old pc (hp pavilion dv9000) handle kde effects faster and everything, so i wanted to let you guys know i have a problem with my pc for those compositing styles. My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600. Thank you for your efforts and all answers will be appreciated! Also thank you for the amazing work on the kde desktop because it is what makes my linux look amazingly better than any macos or windows out there |

This sounds like buggy graphics card drivers. In case you use Nouveau (which is not unlikely nowadays by default), you should report this bug to the Nouveau project.
Greetings, Sven
I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.
