should be in the sotftware center or by using Muon, how do you normally install additional packages?

from command line (in Konsole) should be:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install ksnapshot
or
Code: Select all
sudo apt install ksnapshot

there should be tutorials on the Kubuntu site as to how to install additional packages and repositories (what they call ppa's) which are collections of additional packages, such as https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallingSoftware

are you sure it downloaded and installed? to check in konsole run
Code: Select all
apt-cache search ksnapshot
or
Code: Select all
dpkg -s ksnapshot

if installed then in konsole try
Code: Select all
/usr/bin/ksnapshot

Re: Howto: Recently used

All,

I solved the problems on the original machine, but just brought up a new one and the file:

~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals

has the settings of:

[Recent Applications]
MaxEntries=20
UseRecent=true

[Recent Documents]
MaxEntries=25
UseRecent=true

The docs show, but only 10 entries and no apps show, though these settings are working on my other boxes.

The link to kio recent document at:

git.opendesktop.org

Is empty, so that project is abandoned or moved!

Any idea why the the apps don't show and why the limit of 10 is being imposed?

Cheers!

All,

OK! I started the original post on this topic here.

Since then I guess I've more or less become a sudo authority on this.

There are 3 categories of "Recents" that can be displayed. I personally switch
to the "classic" menu/application launcher view where these are easily displayed. All there are
added/deleted/modified in the "kdeglobals" file usually found at:
Code: Select all
      ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals

and should contain these:
Code: Select all
      [Recent Applications]
      MaxEntries=20
      UseRecent=true

      [Recent Documents]
      MaxEntries=25
      UseRecent=true

      [Recent Installed]
      MaxEntries=20
      UseRecent=true

Changing UseRecent true/false determines which show, but you'll notice the
MaxEntries is set elsewhere, controlling a "cat" or "tail" read of the
containing log file, so unless you find where to change that default "file
read" you'll max at only 10 items read/displayed.

I'm still looking/hunting for answers to:
1.) Where to change the MaxEntries limit to exceed the built-in "10" limit.
2.) Where to add a "NEW" file type/extension so it will be included in the list.

Help me find these last 2 and the whole community will benefit with the knowledge!

Cheers!

Well, this thread is quite old.
Meanwhile KDE4 is long dead, and KF5/Plasma5 uses different locations for the config...
It is ~/.config/ instead of ~/.kde/share/config/ now, I don't know off-hand if that option is still respected though.

What versions are you using anyway?
