After setting a custom font and size in Fonts (FreeSans 20) and a custom date format in Country/Region & Language, the clock widget in my Panel is too narrow - screenshot:

If I make a change in Digital Clock Settings and click Apply, the clock resizes to the correct width. But next time I log in, it is back to being too narrow.

I'm guessing maybe the clock width is being set before the font size is set? Any ideas for how to fix this? I'm using Kubuntu 14.04.

Can you try making a change to the height of the panel and seeing if that has a similar (and hopefully permanent) effect?

Changing the height of the panel fixes the problem, but only temporarily. When I end my session and log back in, the clock is back to the state in the screenshot.

Which version of KDE are you using?
