No, but I want to try disabling them to check a bug. With icons - sometimes on login there is no icons but a scrollbar on the right side on the screen. I read that disabling virtual desktops fixes the bug. On old KDE4 versions I could disable them, but on new not ...

You mean this bug? https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=294795

Seems like the workaround is to reset your Plasma settings, let me know if you need any help with that.

Also, just a tip for future posts - put your question in the title, and don't restrict it to just admins and developers. Many members in the forums are very knowledgeable and it's possible a non-admin/developer could help you out. :)

Can you please reference the source that claims virtual desktops could be "disabled" and eventually also the source that makes you think this had any relation to the bug?

Background:
--------------------
Virtual desktops are a purely local concept - when you switch between them, the WindowManager un/minimizes groups of windows that are associated with the respective "virtual desktop" (which is just a number in the window attribute list) - disabling this would be equal to either limit their number to "1" (since every window is than on that virtual desktop) or make KWin (via a rule) to treat all windows as "sticky" (on all virtual desktops)

From bug #294795, I can only assume this somehow about "activities" for it has NEVER been possible to "disable" virtual desktops in any KDE version and technically there would be absolutely no difference from restricting their number to "1" (which is also the default value)

-> I assume the folderview containment starts with an invalid size (eg. for initially being on the non current activity or because kscreen resizes the screen?) and misses a resize event to rearrage icons.
As a quick workaround i'd try to re-arrange icons on show events (and rather not re-rearrange on invalid/unreasonable sizes, since that will likely loose the user set icon positions? not using this feature myself)
