Thunderbird won't start maximized ?

Mon Nov 17, 2014 5:01 pm
Using Plasma 4.8.5 with Thunderbird 31.2.0
I've been looking all over for setting to make Tbird start maximized but it just doesn't want to.
It also won't remember my "View" settings as I have a couple of the "Toolbars" unchecked but when it starts up the next day they are checked again

Suggestions?

Thanks
G

try
Code: Select all
 kstart --maximize thunderbird

re view settings:
- try as a new/diff user
- check if the t-bird appropriate t-bird rc/config file(s) is actually being written to when you close it
- check that you have write access to your entire t-bird folder
- wouldn't think this is a KDE issue, have you checked the t-bird forums?

yes, if this works you can, if you wish, create an alias with
Code: Select all
 alias thunderbird='kstart --maximize thunderbird'
just add it to your ~/.bashrc (assuming you use bash as your shell)

I've had similar problems with size/placement with both Thunderbird and Firefox.

The most effective solution I found to 'tame' them was by using 'Window Rules' ( System Settings -> Window Behaviour -> Window Rules ).

The 'View/Toolbar' issue is not one I've seen. Any addons that modify toolbars? Try starting in 'Safe Mode' ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode )
