Hi!

I have KDE 4.14.3 installed but the problem exist from the previous versions:

When I restart KDE my choice of wallpaper change all the time to the default wallpaper. It help if I lock widgets. Than stay my coice on.
Is it normal, please?

I use an image with no issues

What kind of wallpaper (image, pic of day, globe, pattern, etc.....) ?

If you change the type does it not revert at startup?

Try testing with a new user, see if its you config

found an older bug report that has not been confirmed https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=315112

the config file containing the setting is ~/.kde[4]/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletrc, can check if it contains the correct setting when KDE is running and after you logged out but before you log back in

When I have my wallper it shows:

Than I logout from KDE and I had still correct settings. After restart of KDE settings gone and I have just:

I have no idea, never did, but felt more information was needed

2 things you should try:
- use of a different non-image type wallpaper
- test as a new or different user, maybe there's something amiss in a config file somewhere

any other strange behavior with the desktop?

note: moved this to the Plasma sub-forum as its a Plasma issue

create a file ~/.kde/share/autostart/plasma-desktop.desktop (notice: might be ~/.kde4/...)

then run "kbuildsycoca4" and see whether your wallpaper remains.
The service will delay the start of the desktop process by 5 seconds.

I did, run "kbuildsycoca4" and wallpaper didn't change. I left the file in autostart and restart KDE. It was the problem:
It didn't start and there were mesage that are not try on the system. Just black screen and mouse cursor.

I have also in /usr/local/share/autostart some files and also plasma-desktop.desktop and plasma.desktop.

no idea what happened to my last post, but add

[Desktop Entry]

on top of that file (otherwise it's not a valid desktop service and the actual service was shadowed with a broken piece of text) - sorry for the trouble.

I did, I did but didn't work. It changed to the default one again.
