Position of icons on desktop

Sat May 02, 2015 3:14 pm
Hi,

I have set my desktop to be a folder and it is showing the contents of my desktop folder. The icons are placed horizontally in 2 rows, one on the top and one at the bottom of the screen.
As you can see I have a desktop picture which is vertically smaller than the monitor leaving 2 black parts above and under the picture. I want to use those parts to store my icons.

On top I managed to do so, but the bottom row does not want to be placed at the desired position. I use the grid to keep them nicely aligned. If I move the bottom row one grid further down, they are half of the screen. Is there a way to set the grid-size somewhere so I can play with the positions?
I could of course switch of the grid but I'm afraid it will be a mess that way.

Thanks

Nobody can help me? Is this the only setting in KDE which is missing perhaps?
What a shame. I was hoping there would be a way to adjust the position without switching off using the grid because, as I wrote earlier, that would be a mess because it is so hard to place the icons nice on one line.

Looks like the size of the grid for a folder view desktop is tied to the size of the icons.

If you can easily distinguish which files you want in the top or bottom rows, you could switch to a regular desktop activity and add folder views to the top and bottom portions with filters to only show the files that you want on the top or bottom.
