Hello All,

I had installed a plasmoid called "WebSlice" which for some reason is a bad thing which got stuck to my desktop.
If I right click on the plasmoid there are only two options in the context menu "Configure" and "Reload" but there is no option for removing the plasmoid itself.

I did some research and executed #plasmapkg2 -remove cqcb.plasma.webslice, this command did remove the webslice plasmoid from the list of installable plasmoids but the widget stuck on the desktop is still present. I don't understand how to remove this plasmoid from the desktop.

Thanks

you may need to hand edit the plasma rc file to remove the errant plasmoid/widget/applet

1st back it up it somewhere
Code: Select all
cp ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc-bkup

2nd open it in Kate (or editor of choice)
Code: Select all
kate ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc&

3rd kill plasma shell else changes will not be retained/used, suggest you use Krunner
Code: Select all
kquitapp plasmashell

4th find and remove the 2, 3 or more relevant sections in the rc file, they will all have the same [Containments] and [Applets] numbers. The 1st will look like this:
[Containments][1][Applets][24]
immutability=1
plugin=org.kde.plasma.webslice (or something similar)

5th save the file

6th restart plasma (note using krunner keeps out various messages)
Code: Select all
plasmashell

7th let me know if it worked

OpenSuse Leap 42.1 x64, Plasma 5.x
