I'm using the Smoother5 theme for Plasma5, but my network and dropbox icons in the system tray did not change to the themed icons, all others in the tray have though. I checked ".../.kde/share/apps/desktoptheme/Smoother5/icons" and those icons are there with the right name. Not sure what's happening. Any ideas?

Dropbox uses an old-style XEmbed icon, you cannot theme those.

What exactly do you mean with "network"?
plasma-nm should use the "network" icon from the desktop theme.

But, if you use Plasma5, ~/.kde/share/apps/desktoptheme is not respected, that's the KDE4 location.
Try ~/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme instead.

The icon is labeled network.svgz, my wifi icon. I checked that location you gave me (~/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme), and it has all the icons in it as well.
