Hello, I am just about to install KDE on Arch Linux for the first time in several years. I really like using KDE. However, my least favourite 'feature' had to be the constant fight against the horrid yellow foetus. You download a third-party widget to hide it, KDE updates, then it's back again, download the new version of 3rd party widget, etc. etc.
Perhaps the worst part of this experience was the perception I got that there seemed to be an attitude among developers (and the users who liked the cashew) that the users who didn't want it and never used it were just plain wrong. Or that it somehow provided some sort of critical functionality that just could not be put somewhere else. So I've been trying to research the current situation and find out how easy it is to hide the new 'Desktop Toolbox' widget, which seems to be 3 horizontal lines. I can't quite tell whether the methods I've found so far will actually work because I've not installed KDE yet. So come on, someone. Tell me it can be removed in system settings or something, without constantly using buggy widgets that have to be updated every week. Tell me KDE developers have started listening to their users and now provide the option to customise the desktop in the way I want. Please tell me I can do this easily and painlessly. Please. |
