LM 17.3 KDE updated
I have one desktop and several activities. To switch activities and desktop I used the middle click. The upcoming menu has always the last created activity at the bottom. I would like to change the order of activities in their appearance in the middle click menu. Thanks in advance for hints. |

I've noticed on the latest and greatest KDENeon that if I have not "used" "other" activities for say, a half hour, that the "other ones" are automatically "unactivated" and I have to go the cashew and open the activities side bar and select an activity and then both of them will appear when i "left click".
I have five activities and to get them all on the left click menu I have to manually go through all of them. They are fully functional, with things like a media player app still there or a word processor. Not your particular situation, but just a comment that it may be a new "paradigm" by the devs. woodjustsayin'smoke |

@woodsmoke
Thanks for your comments. In my case the activities are working perfectly fine. I only want to change the order of the activities in the middle click menu and did not find yet a solution. |

Maybe as a stop gap, maybe just re-name the activities in the desired order?
On my left click "desktop" is always top and "default" is aways on the bottom, and unlock apps and move them to the renamed activity? Laborious but a stopgap. woodsmoke |

I "played around" a bit and found that a new activity is always place right of the currently used activity. Thus before adding a new activity the position needs to be considered.
However, when having only a desktop and adding the first activity, this first activity seems to be placed left of the desktop. "left" refers to the window, which opens after clicking the cashew icon and then activities. "left" means in the vertical order of my middle click "above". |

I have found activities on the taskbar are shown in alpha-numeric order. So renaming them to suit your desired order should fix your problem.
Under "Switching" in system settings, tick the box for remembering which activity is used for each desktop. Your activities should then always be active on boot.

Thanks for the hint with "switching"
However, I checked the System Settings but could not find an item called "switching". Could you please give me another hint on where to find the "switching" settings. |

Don't know about Mint, but in Neon under Desktop Behaviour, go to Activities.
There are three tabs - Activities, Switching and Privacy. Under the Switching tab, there is a box to tick called: "Remember the current virtual desktop for each activity (needs restart)" Hopefully there is something similar in Mint. Edit: Just realized you are on 17.3, which is KDE 4 not KDE 5. I run the same version, but don't use activites in Mint as virtual desktops work the old way (unlike Plasma 5). There is no switching tab in 17.3
