Customize lockscreen on KDE 4.14?

Wed Sep 28, 2016 3:49 pm
So I managed to install plasma desktop on my Ubuntu, and so far so good, but the lockscreen seems too simple. I can't even add a proper big digital clock. I mean this one:

I tried with the customizing option, changing the BG and adding a anaglog clock, but now, when I lock the session, the upper right menu appears opened, there's no password input and I have to specifically click on unlock first for it to appear, and when it finally appears, it is on the botton, in a way that if I want to start a new session from there, the window goes bigger to the bottom of the page, and the buttons stay out of the screen, making impossible to click on them.

Any way to restart the config so the little login window doesn't go down?

Any big digital clock with a date on it?

Any way to replace this way-too-minimal lockscreen for other one?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not as familiar with the configuration when using desktop widgets on the lock screen, though trying it out I achieved similar results to the ones you described, except that the login prompt came up in the center of the screen as expected at an appropriate size.

As for other options, in System Settings -> Display and Monitor -> Screen Locker you can select between Simple locker (just the unlock prompt on a background provided by the current desktop theme), Desktop Widgets (the lock screen I assume that you've been playing around with), and Screen saver (uses the Simple locker for the prompt and background, but also runs screen savers on top).
You might also try other desktop themes to see if the problem with the unlock box is because of something in the theme itself or if it is something else.

Thanks, I managed to hide the button (and consequently lose the actions from it) by disabling it on the whole system. My problem now, is that I have dual screens and the login input (which is still on the bottom, but now it grows to top and I can actually press the buttons) only appears on the primary one. So far so good, but when I unplug the secondary monitor, the locker only shows the secondary setup, preventing me to see the input. I can type and unlock, but it is a very risky process. Any idea why?

Thanks.
