Application menu items missing

Thu Feb 23, 2017 2:40 pm
Hi all,
I'm pretty new to KDE (and Linux), but loving it so far. I'm on Antergos Linux (Arch), with latest updates and Plasma 5.9.2, KDE framework 5.31.0
I have an issue with the applications menu. I've selected the Application dashboard alternative (sorry if term are not correct, I'm translating them from Italian), but the problem shows up with every alternative view of the application menu.

It used to be fine, then yesterday I somehow realized I've lost my settings. I can only see
Recent Applications
Recent Documents
All applications
Development
q4wine
Power/Session

I've lost all other categories and applications. They do show up if I start typing (lets say WPS Writer, which was in the Office category), so applications are installed and working.

If I log in in a XFCE session, all categories and programs are present, and work as expected.

Is there any setting I've might have messed up while trying to customize settings? Or is there a way to reset the Application menu?

Thanks,
Fabio

Try Edit->"Restore to System Menu" in the menu editor (kmenuedit, reachable by right-clicking on the application menu icon).

And/or delete ~/.config/menus/.

I didn't find the Edit menu on kmenuedit, but removing ~/.config/menus/* did the trick.

Thanks!
