Time Zones are gone

Wed Jun 21, 2017 3:55 am
My Time zones are completely gone when I try to adjust date and time. Instead it only shows an option saying UTC that doesn't do anything besides turning the digital clock completely invisible. I can't even choose the default option.

How can I have all the time zones again?

Ok, I think I solved it. After some GParted fix, it seems that I lost some data.
/usr/share/zoneinfo/zone.tab is completely gone, but /usr/share/zoneinfo/zone1970.tab is still there so I'm using it instead, Now the time zones are back in the date and time settings.
But the problem doesn't end there because the system doesn't allows me to use my timezone: Tokyo. It seems that it is also completely gone from the list, so I will be using Seoul as my timezone because it is the same.

So to fix it I changed .config/ktimezonedrc and set LocalZone as Asia/Seoul.

It works, but it still bugs me that some time zones and my ZoneTab are gone. If you know a way to bring them back without going root (last time I messed up my whole system beyond repair and I'm kinda scared of root since then) please show me.
