Hi,

I am currently working on a theme project that will have a Plasma Look and feel theme, color scheme theme, and desktop theme. All of this will be based or will be a modified version of the default themes. I've seen that most stuff on KDE's github page is listed under the LGPL. Would I have to use the same license? How would I go about Licensing my theme project? I've noticed that project's such as the Numix Project etc. have all their works labeled under the GPL. But isn't there stuff based on other works? I'm confused, anyways if anyone could clarify on this topic I would be greatly appreciated.

My first assumption on this is that on derivative works you can use any license that is "compatible" with the original works' license terms for derivative works. It looks like in the case of LGPL works, this requires the derivative to also be LGPL under Section 2 (LGPL's restrictions are lighter when you are merely depending on an LGPL-licensed library vs. modifying such a library). However the Breeze theme uses GPL 2, which is a bit stricter about copying the license to derivative works (see Section 2 b).
