What is 'Desktop Dashboard'?

Sat Dec 09, 2017 12:11 pm
https://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?compon ... lution=---

Is it 'Application Dashboard'? - but there is already section for it - https://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?compon ... lution=---

or is it 'Folder View' widget?. If it's 'Folder View' - i think it's better to rename this widget and it's bugtracker section into 'Folder Dashboard' - for better distinguishing between the 'Application Dashboard', Plasma Shell 'Folder View' desktop layout and this widget - i may create a bug or a wish for it in the kde bugtracker

I believe that may have referred to a widget dashboard that was present in Plasma 4 (configurable in System Settings -> Workspace Behavior -> Workspace -> Dashboard plus shortcuts to show that). This dashboard would show either the current desktop widgets or an independent set of widgets over top of everything when activated.
iirc, this was removed in Plasma 5.

Looking at the bugs listed there, there certainly seems to be some confusion as some of the bugs are probably for the Application Dashboard launcher, some of them are probably for the desktop itself (perhaps someone should go and fix the components on those cases).

I think what seems to be missing there is a short description on the components to help users filing bugs know what a component refers to and which one they should use when filing a new bug.
