As I said, if somebody wants to do it, that's ok.

Until we get libplasma2 (the QML+ ...) I can't afford to make UI changes. Too much things to do now :/

Last message was at Thu Sep 08, 2011 10:36 pm . Is lancelot development stopped?

I really need to sort option in favorites and applications. Can I do it or will it be implemented?

cyberbat -

Favorites placement is user defined - just drag and drop the items to your preferred order

Applications are the same as Kmenu, to change the order you need to right click -> menu editor, then drag them to your preferred placement and grouping then save

So I haven't a button "make it alphabetical", have I? :(

You can file a feature request for kmenuedit - lancelot (like other menus) follows fdo standard.

is Lancelot project alive and active?
it seems that it is't continued since 2008.

Yes, it is - the last commit is from a month ago.

It is currently in maintenance mode, not active development for a few reasons:
- Works well enough (at least until some of the libraries below don't create crashes)
- It needs to be ported to QML, but for that I'll need libplasma2 to become alive (I don't want to do one rewrite now and one after that - I've already had to rewrite L twice for the changes in Qt)
- I'm currently dedicating all my KDE-time to the activities system, contour and plasma active (which I originally started working on so that lancelot can get smart favourites and similar things)

Appreciate the effort you've put into it, Ivan. Played with it extensively this morning and I'll be using it from now on. Hope you keep up the great work.

Re: Lancelot brainstorming

i want to report a crash.
i installed Lancelot in openSUSE 12.1 alongside kickoff.
crash occurs when for example i click on Lancelot icon to open the menu then i click on utilities and therefore open a new column. it's OK, but if in this situation (after clicking utilities menu) i decide to click on system (that is another menu above the utilities menu), the Lancelot menu will close.
to solve this problem i went to Lancelot setting>>menu>>applications and in column behavior i activated second alternatives (it's name is "limit to two column") but the problem still exist. so i went to Lancelot setting>>menu>>applications again and in column behavior i activated third alternatives (it's name is "open popups for subcategories") and now the bahavior of columns changed and the problem solved.
but i think you should solve the problem essentially.

Lancelot window is transparent in my OS (openSUSE 12.1)
how can i disable it's transparency?
why don't you add an appearance setting to Lancelot setting?

Because I don't want (like the rest of kde team to introduce a separate setting for every little thing)

If you want a less transparent window, use a different plasma theme...

Happy new year!

using a different plasma theme will cause all the windows to be less transparent. but i want only change Lancelot Menu transparency. Lancelot transparency do not allow me to read the words correctly but transparency in other applications window does not have any problem.

If the transparency is not over-excessive in krunner, but it is in lancelot, then whoever made the theme could have done a better job.
