Yes, but you need to be reminded what you look like
I think that would take care of 5 as well. Is there any way to make "places" that same as your dolphin places? Minus the drives, of course. The standard kickoff menu does that somehow.

You probably forgot about my idea how to emulate a some look of mac dock in KDE...
Well I gave it a bit of thought and I came to some interesting conclusions. First of all I took the Naked theme and made it as transparent as it can be. With that I did accomplish the integrated look, but there are some side effects. Like totally transparent system messages at least if you have a light background. Anyway that's besides the point. So after comparing three options: Lancelot part, Folder View and Quick Access. I must say that none of them is perfect, but I feel that Quick Access is quite close to making it useful. Lancelot part: I still don't know how to make a transparent background for it. And it emulates the folder view... Folder View: It has transparent background but instead of starting applications it opens them in dolphin... Not that useful, or it can get to cluttered. The way to get it working nicely is to use applications:/Internet or something to access your applications. But it's useless in those categories that have subcategories. Quick Access: Also transparent but it dosen't support applications:/ protocol (why?). But it would be really cool if it would. Anyway I just wanted to show that my idea is to some extent possible. And I can't wait to see new features in Lancelot...

Hi
Ivan - thanks for replying my posts, I have no time to read all messages posted here, so I wrote all my ideas that had come to my mind during the time I spent using lancelot, so in some cases I wrote something that had been written here before. My reply for: "7.The last thing I think. It is connected to 6 somehow. Maybe add to lancelot user icon set in system-settings?" ivan "BTW, what is the point of /start menu/ to show you your name and avatar? I'm sure that you know your name." some people do like put in this place not their own picture but picture for example of their pet or something funny or small animation maybe just for fun or just for their pleasure. So maybe a plugin in the future or if plasma applets will be possible to set in lancelot so there is no point to discuss that. TheBlackCat "Yes, but you need to be reminded what you look like" Every people judge other people in their own way based on their nature so if you like to be reminded what you look like keep looking at mirrors TheBlackCat "Is there any way to make "places" that same as your dolphin places? Minus the drives, of course. The standard kickoff menu does that somehow" Yes, that is good idea to have dolphin places in lancelot or if not, maybe a plugin for lancelot to have it's own favourites to allow user to specify his own favorite places. Thanks. Darek |

@TheBlackCat "Is there any way to make "places" that same as your dolphin places?"
Yes it is. The simplest way is to use the SVN trunk version of Lancelot @Primoz Actually, I haven't forgotten. I really haven't There are some new theme features that are aimed exactly for that. But I'm waiting to blog about that once I get a screenshot of that. BTW, part applet can not be transparent in 4.2, will be in 4.3. @pipaceliny I agree, it is useless, but some users like it... so why not But, you'll understand that it will be a VERY low priority for me. |

Hello again
I was wondering if is possible to: 1. add to lancelot's section contacts ability to be visible avatars of contacts - as visible in kopete? 2. add to lancelot's section computer/system also ksystemlog, kuser, ksnapshot and partitionmanager? 3. implement possibility to set three images as lancelot start icon like in kbfx for kde3 (optional)? 4. mng pictures as lancelot start panel icon? 5. lancelot panel icon in rectangular shape not only square? And lancelot should scale the rectangular images to best fit in panel. Sorry, if I ask something that was discussed already Darek |

1. Well, this is implemented already, but is very hackish, not bullet-proof and in many cases it doesn't work Kopete now has the avatar info available through D-Bus, but it is not guaranteed that the interface will remain in the future kopete versions, so I'm not using it.
2. You'll be able to choose the applications you want 3. IMO, it is unnecessary and induces clutter in settings dialogue 4. When QIcon starts supporting MNG (if it doesn't already - I don't know) 5. The same as 3. |

both of these have been already requested (and you have said they are likely to be implemented, yay!)
i just wanted to voice my support for these feature requests: 1. Sorting alphabetically (by name). 2. Option of disabling Descriptions (only display application name). love lancelot btw!

I just got an idea, that this topic should be moved to Brainstorming section.
Tagged with Lancelot. So that all new ideas concerning Lancelot would be added to this list.

Be patient @Primoz If you want, you have my approval to move it. Though, I don't see the point since the other stuff in the brainstorming are in format - one idea per thread, so there is a point of the voting system, and status tags. |

Agreeing with Ivan here. This thread is a collection of multiple (great) ideas, while brainstorm strictly follows one idea per thread.
We'll see if a new section (subforum to brainstorm) can be added. Nevertheless, this thread already makes it's way as 'Important threads' in it's section :shade: |

It is that time of the year when we look upon what is done and what to look forward to in the future. No, it's not Christmas, it is the feature freeze of KDE 4.3 and TODO summary for Lancelot.
Implemented ideas: - configuration for the system buttons - extenders in passageway view to overlap next list (less empty space between lists in application browser) - return to the applications when the search string is empty - highlight the path in passageway view (not only the breadcrumb) - clear documents history (and remove single items from it) - places to load from dolphin (custom non-device places from Dolphin are shown in Places section) - choose which categories to show in the applet - menu sorting (according to the menu editors order) - DnD searched applications - choosing the applications in documents and computer section - keep open option Apart from those tasks, there are also changes that I haven't kept track of, so I can not remember most of them. The most important finished features are *complete* keyboard support and plug-ins framework for Contacts section. The later is not visible to the users (not available through the configuration dialogue), but it does work. For the list of features yet to come, see the TODO file. |

Hello! I moved this from kde-apps since I didn't understand your answer.
Anders: Hello! If it would be possible to shrink the icons I would certainly appreciate that. Don't like scrolling. Doesn't let me overlook everything the way I prefer. Ivan: Not without removing the description part of an item. p.s. The place for requesting new features is: showthread.php?tid=15049 (as is stated in the app description above) Anders |

Hi Anders,
I guess I really was confusing The point is that I can not squeeze the items without removing the description part of them which I really don't want to do. The items squeeze themselves if there is a chance for them to fit in the list without the need for scrolling. If not, they all have a default size. (and they expand to a point if there is enough space for them to grow) So, in a nutshell, the items have minimum/preferred/maximum sizes, and those are used as stated above. |

Hi,
sorry if it has been mentioned before. I would like to have a similar option like in Windows XP Start menu to show most used applications in the favorite menu. Would it be possible? |
