Hello Forum,
I am very new to KDE and the desktop "Plasma", but I enjoy it a lot. But I came across an issue I couldn't find a solution for: I'm running Fedora 28 with KDE Plasma and I installed VLC media player. When ever I insert media like a CD or DVD I get a pop-up by the Device Manager, but I can't choose the VLC media player to open my media. How can I add VLC to this list? I appreciate your help. |

It seems that Plasma 5 is still using actions from KDE4. See this article: https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php/68016-Open-with-VLC?p=371184&viewfull=1#post371184
Haven't tried it myself - but is the only answer I could find. -=Ken=-

System Settings -> Removable Storage -> Device Actions. I have 4 different but apparently identical actions for VLC (I didn't delve into the differences). If you don't have any then you can always create your own from there.

ok, thank you. Unfortunatley, I already switched back to gnome. I had a couple other issues and bottom line is, that in Fedora 28 the KDE desktop is very poorly implemented, at least in the current stage.
The next distro, I'd like to try is KDE Neon, so if experience the same problem again, I'll give it a try. |
