Hi,

I am on Gentoo linux system.
I am running KDE plasma-workspace version 5.12.5.

When on my second activity ( I have only two activities: the default one and this second one ),
right click on desktop, choose New > Symple file or Directory...
choose a directory ( can't chose file because the button remain gray ),
click OK

then I get an 'Error - Plasma' info box with the message:

Can't create activities:/current/Oraim symlink on workspace.
Check your permissions.

I just want to create an icon on my desktop to open that directory, or to start a shell script.

How can I solve this problem about permissions?
How can I create a lunch icon to start this shell script?

Best, Pal

It sounds like what you tried was attempting to create a symbolic link from the desktop folder to the activities:/ url which doesn't work because symbolic links only work for actual objects on the (same) file system.

Instead, what I would suggest is that you open the activities:/current/ url in Dolphin and then drag the desired file/folder to the desktop. It will present you with options for how to add that item to the desktop. Based on what you pick it should set up the shortcut properly for you.
