Discover vs Zypper

Mon Aug 27, 2018 11:31 am
Hello there,

I am using OpenSUSE with KDE Plasma.

I have recently found that the .rpm packages that I wish to install do not install with Discover, I receive an "Internal Error", in one case after receiving the messages the package was installing, but the task was forever stuck at 0% and I could not close the window.
In order to install these packages I have instead had to use zypper from the terminal, they install fine with zypper.

However when I install packages with zypper they do not automatically appear in the menu until I do a reboot.

Is this a bug with Discover?
What is the relationship between Discover and zypper? Can Discover handle .rpm packages?
It's a bit tiresome having to open the terminal and run the zypper command. Would it be possible to integrate the distro's package manager with Discover?

If you are interested then the two packages I was trying to install are:

Excuse the delay in responding, I've been using openSUSE for years with KDE, please note that Discover has just been added to openSUSE, there is actually some problem. Fortunately, however, the problems are solving them, in Tumbleweed works quite well and in Leap 15 are correcting some bugs.
However, openSUSE also has an excellent package manager in Yast, so there is no need to use zypper.
